HMS Saxifrage; one of the last examples of a Royal Navy sloop was built in 1917 by Lobnitz & Co. Limited of Renfrew in Scotland as the Flower-class sloop.

The key elements of the Preservation Project

• Moving the ship to a new permanent mooring.
• Removal of the external “Dazzle” and repainting the exterior of the ship.
• A review will be conducted of heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.
• Remove, reconstruct, clean and paint the internal areas of the ship.
• Improve accessibility and investigate possible installation of a possible stair lift and ramps to be Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance.
• Implement detailed interpretation across the ship.
• In future; Dry docking of the ship to inspect, clean and conserve the hull, external weather decks and internal spaces. A survey of ships systems such as power and fire systems will be.

To bring tourism to the local area with a museum that tell the story of Q-ships which has not yet been told.

To offer a unique location for groups such as Scouts, Cadets and universities to gain experience for their future.

To offer volunteering opportunities to charities of Mental Health and other needs to get back out into the community.

To offer Local people the chance to volunteer and gain experience onboard.

If placed in a good location e.g. Historic Dockyard, Dockside, Rochester, sheerness docks could be a pull to tourists in the Medway area, this would help toward getting regular trade for local businesses.

Using local businesses for the restoration and rebuilding of areas on the vessel.

Offering the hiring of the venue for special occasions such as weddings, proms, business meetings.
